Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat: Bilateral trade with Uzbekistan continues to grow

АNKARA, January 29. /Dunyo IA/. The Turkish newspaper “Ekonomi”, one of the most influential business-oriented publications, has published a series of articles dedicated to the development of Uzbek-Turkish relations, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The publications examine the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation, as well as Uzbekistan’s role as a key partner for Türkiye in Central Asia.
In particular, an article by Turkish Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat highlights the sustained growth of trade and economic ties between the two countries. It notes that by the end of 2024, the volume of mutual trade exceeded USD 3.3 billion, with a near-term target of reaching USD 5 billion and a medium- to long-term goal of USD 10 billion.
Special attention is given to the existing Preferential Trade Agreement, the expansion of investment cooperation, Türkiye’s role as one of Uzbekistan’s largest trading partners and the significant contribution of Turkish companies to the Uzbek economy.
In an article by Özgür Onur Özgüven, Chairman of the Türkiye -Uzbekistan Business Council under the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK), the dynamic development of economic relations and the growth of trade, which reached USD 3.1 billion in 2025, is highlighted.
The author emphasizes the importance of joint manufacturing projects and high value-added initiatives as well as investment opportunities in construction, the chemical industry and processing sectors. Particular attention is given to the active work of the Business Council in promoting the investment potential of Uzbekistan’s regions.
The ongoing economic reforms in Uzbekistan, along with privatization programs and public-private partnership initiatives, are creating a favorable environment for attracting foreign capital”, - article states.
