BUDAPEST, January 29. /Dunyo IA/. Cooperation with Türkiye in the field of forestry occupies a special place in Uzbekistan’s state policy, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing the Hungarian magazine “Eurasia Magazine”.
It is noted that, in this context, a significant event was an educational and practical seminar held during the visit of a delegation from the Forestry Agency under Uzbekistan’s National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change to Türkiye in October 2025. The seminar was jointly organized with the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
During the event, participants were introduced to Türkiye’s experience in forest creation and restoration, sustainable forest management and environmental classification. Best practices were examined in the establishment of forest nurseries, afforestation in mountainous areas using terracing methods, the development of “green belts” around cities and the expansion of public parks.
The delegation visited Seydikemer and Gökova nurseries in Muğla Province. Covering an area of 144 hectares, Seydikemer nursery is capable of producing up to 1.5 million saplings annually, while the Gökova nursery can cultivate up to 7 million saplings per year. It was noted that, thanks to modern operational methods, the success rate of growing high-quality planting material reaches 90-95 percent.
In addition, participants familiarized themselves with the operation of greenhouses, in vitro laboratories, the use of modern equipment and the organization of seasonal production processes. Following the visit, it was emphasized that cooperation between Uzbekistan and Türkiye is taking on a practical dimension and will contribute to the development of the national forestry system and the strengthening of the country’s environmental sustainability.
