According to the press service of the Head of our State, modernization of transport infrastructure, expansion of export potential, and ensuring uninterrupted logistics for sectors of the economy are among the country’s state policy priorities.

Large-scale transformations are underway in the railway sector. They are contributing to a fundamental modernization of the industry, expansion of production capacities, and the phased renewal of the railcar fleet.

The second phase of the project, intended for 2025-2026 and valued at $150 million, has been launched to produce freight and passenger railcars and modernize railcar manufacturing enterprises within JSC Uzbekistan Railways. It provides for the production of 954 freight and 70 passenger railcars.

To date, 45 passenger railcars and 340 tank wagons have been produced under the project. By the end of this year, an additional 614 freight railcars and 25 passenger railcars will be manufactured.

To further increase freight railcar production in the coming years, the President recently signed a separate decree. In accordance with the document, an additional $100 million will be allocated, and the delivery of 1,350 freight railcars will be ensured. To achieve this, a target has been set to increase the capacity of industrial enterprises by 1.5 times and reach production of 2,000 freight railcars as early as this year.

The Head of State gave instructions to the relevant officials to modernize the railcar fleet, increase transportation volumes, and optimize costs.
