MADRID, May 23. /Dunyo IA/. The Spanish analytical and news portal “Orta Lectura” published an article on the socio-economic development of Uzbekistan following the results of the first quarter of 2026, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Akramjon Nematov, First Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies (ISRS), stated that Uzbekistan has successfully adapted to global instability and strengthened its economic resilience to external challenges. The nation’s strategic policies have bolstered its financial and structural defenses against foreign shocks.
According to him, Uzbekistan's GDP grew by 8.7% compared to 6.8% a year earlier. Industry increased by 8%, and the services sector grew by 16.1%. It was also possible to reduce inflation from 10.6% to 7.1%.
The expert emphasized that the achieved results were the consequence of consecutive reforms by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and large-scale support for entrepreneurship. In 2026, it is planned to direct 140 trillion soums through the banking system for business development, and the volume of foreign investment for the quarter reached 13.7 billion dollars.
Uzbekistan is prioritizing innovative development, labor productivity, and high-tech manufacturing, while also navigating external risks like rising energy costs and complex logistics. The strategy emphasizes attracting global brands to boost local industrial capabilities.
