TEL AVIV, April 12. /«Dunyo» IA/. With the assistance of Uzbek diplomats, Orthodox pilgrims from Uzbekistan took part in the Holy Fire ceremony in Jerusalem and brought the sacred flame back to Tashkent, «Dunyo» IA’s correspondent reports.

On April 10–11, a delegation of the Tashkent and Uzbekistan Diocese of the Central Asian Metropolitan District of the Russian Orthodox Church, led by Metropolitan Vikenty, arrived in Jerusalem to participate in the solemn ceremony of the descent of the Holy Fire at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

The delegation’s participation in this spiritually significant event served as an important testament to the country’s commitment to interfaith dialogue, as well as to strengthening friendship and mutual understanding among its people.

During the visit, Metropolitan Vikenty emphasized the special importance of the mission and expressed sincere gratitude to the leadership of Uzbekistan for their support.

“I express my deep appreciation to the leadership of Uzbekistan for facilitating this noble mission. In these challenging times, such support is of particular value and contributes to strengthening spiritual ties and mutual respect among peoples,” Metropolitan Vikenty noted.

The Holy Fire ceremony annually gathers thousands of believers from around the world and symbolizes spiritual unity and hope.

Upon returning to Uzbekistan, the Holy Fire was delivered to churches across the country, allowing Orthodox Christians to continue Easter traditions by lighting candles from this sacred flame.
