U.S. to Provide More Than 206 Million Dollars to Establish Peacekeeping Force in Gaza

WASHINGTON, August 20. /Dunyo IA/. The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has notified Congress of plans to provide more than 206 million dollars to establish and equip the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in the Gaza Strip, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing “Reuters.”

According to State Department documents, 200 million dollars will be allocated for the force’s equipment, infrastructure, transportation and operational costs. Another 6.3 million will be used to refurbish nine armoured personnel carriers.

The ISF is expected to provide security following the withdrawal of Israeli forces, support the delivery of humanitarian aid and assist with the disarmament of armed groups in Gaza. However, the force’s final composition has yet to be determined.

Five countries have already agreed to participate in the mission – Indonesia, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Kosovo and Albania. Egypt and Jordan have expressed readiness to help train Palestinian police officers. The timeline for the possible deployment of the force remains unclear.

Plans to establish the ISF remain stalled due to disagreements between Israel and Hamas. Israel insists that the group must be fully disarmed before its forces withdraw, while Hamas has linked the implementation of the agreements to Israel fulfilling its commitments to halt attacks and withdraw its troops.

The Donald Trump administration has not disclosed the total amount of funding required to operate the force and rebuild Gaza. Initially, countries participating in the “Board of Peace” pledged 17 billion dollars for the reconstruction of the enclave, but a significant portion of those funds has yet to be received.
