WASHINGTON-TEHRAN, July 19. /Dunyo IA/. The United States has carried out its 8^th consecutive series of airstrikes against Iran after an Iranian attack in Jordan killed two American service members, while another remains missing, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing Reuters.

According to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the operation was launched on the orders of President Donald Trump. The command said the strikes were aimed at weakening Iran’s ability to threaten maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as retaliating against forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which Washington says were involved in the attack on U.S. troops.

Iranian media reported that the strikes targeted areas near Sirik in the south of the country and near Shadegan close to the border with Iraq. In response, Iran’s state television reported that drones attacked U.S. military facilities in Kuwait.

According to CENTCOM, the total number of U.S. service members killed since the start of the conflict has reached 16, while more than 420 have been injured. U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said the deaths of the troops had only strengthened Washington’s resolve.

Iranian media also reported strikes on American facilities in Bahrain and Jordan, while in Saudi Arabia, early warning systems urged residents in several areas to seek shelter.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei said that U.S. actions demonstrated that President Donald Trump’s signature was “worthless, devoid of credibility” and warned Washington of “even more severe consequences.”

According to Iran’s Health Ministry, 50 people have been killed and more than 500 injured as a result of U.S. strikes over the past three weeks.

The U.S. State Department issued a worldwide alert for Americans abroad due to the risk of further escalation in the Middle East. According to CENTCOM, more than 50,000 U.S. military personnel are deployed in the region and remain on heightened alert.
