Delegation from Iraqi Kurdistan Visits Uzbekistan to Develop Trade and Economic Cooperation

• 424TASHKENT, July 19. /Dunyo IA/. A delegation from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, consisting of more than 150 representatives of government institutions and businesses, visited Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The visit was organized with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuwait and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the country.
The delegation included heads of the chambers of commerce and industry of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Kirkuk, Halabja, and Duhok, representatives of the Kurdistan Regional Government, and business leaders. Among the participants were companies operating in agriculture, food production, construction, textiles, jewellery manufacturing, energy, trade, and services.
During meetings with representatives of the government of Uzbekistan, the sides discussed expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and industry. The Kurdistan side expressed interest in attracting Uzbek companies and confirmed its readiness to create favourable conditions for the implementation of joint projects.
Particular attention was paid to cooperation in agriculture and food processing. The sides discussed joint initiatives in livestock farming, poultry production, food manufacturing, fruit and vegetable processing, and the introduction of modern agricultural technologies.
The delegation also visited several Uzbek enterprises, including the “FONON” jewellery factory, “Crafers” confectionery factory, “TEXNOPARK” industrial park, “IMZO” company, and “UZTEX GROUP” textile enterprise. Business representatives reviewed production capabilities and discussed prospects for supplying Uzbek products to the Iraqi Kurdistan market.
As part of the visit, an economic forum was held between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Iraqi Kurdistan. The event brought together more than 400 business representatives.
Following the forum, cooperation memorandums were signed between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Kurdistan, as well as between regional chambers of the two sides.
The parties agreed to continue developing business contacts, expand exchanges of business delegations, increase participation in exhibitions, and implement joint investment projects.
