STOCKHOLM, June 3. /Dunyo IA/. The University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) and Lund University have announced the launch of strategic cooperation in the fields of scientific research and academic development, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The announcement was made during the working visit to Sweden of Sodiq Safoev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and Rector of UWED.

The opening ceremony was attended by Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Sweden, Rakhmatulla Nurimbetov, former Ambassador of Sweden to Uzbekistan Ingrid Tersman, as well as prominent scholars and representatives of academic circles from both countries.

Speaking at the event, Sodiq Safoev emphasized the growing importance of inter-university cooperation in promoting knowledge-based development, strengthening research capacity, and training specialists with international experience.

During the conference titled “Knowledge-Based Development and Academic Cooperation in Central Asia,” participants discussed promising areas of scientific collaboration between Central Asia and the countries of Northern Europe.

The practical implementation of the project will be coordinated by Timur Dadabaev, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at UWED, and Rustamjon Urinboyev, Associate Professor at Lund University.

The strategic partnership is expected to promote joint research projects, academic exchanges, and the development of international scientific networks. It is also expected to contribute to the internationalization of higher education and science in Uzbekistan and further strengthen academic ties with the Scandinavian countries.
