Uzbekistan and Singapore exchange expertise on countering Extremism and Deradicalization

• 172SINGAPORE, June 29. /Dunyo IA/. A delegation from the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan conducted a working visit to Singapore, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
On the sidelines of the visit, bilateral talks were held with representatives of the Singaporean Religious Rehabilitation Group (RRG) and the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) at Nanyang Technological University.
In the course of the negotiations, the interlocutors deliberated on the best practices of Uzbekistan and Singapore in preventing radicalization and violent extremism, promoting deradicalization, the social reintegration of convicts, upgrading strategic communications and developing evidence-based resources to counter malicious narratives within the information space.
Drawing upon the operational frameworks of the RRG and RSIS, the Singaporean counterparts demonstrated a comprehensive methodology for upstream radicalization prevention, outlining specialized programs for the individualized rehabilitation of radicalized persons, social assistance for their families, alongside advanced analytical research and structured public engagement.
In turn, representatives of the delegation of Uzbekistan acquainted their Singaporean partners with the reforms being carried out in the country in the religious and educational sphere, consistent measures to promote the ideas of tolerance and enlightenment in society, as well as the development of scientific approaches to protecting youth from the influence of radical movements.
Following the meetings, the parties reached agreements on expanding cooperation in the field of countering extremism, strengthening strategic communications in the interests of ensuring security, conducting joint scientific research, as well as organizing academic exchanges between profile specialists of the two countries and joint scientific and practical events.
