NOVOSIBIRSK, September 7. /Dunyo IA/.   General Consulate of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk held a solemn event dedicated to the 35^th Anniversary of the country's Independence, gathering over 200 guests, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Event was attended by representatives of the Administration of the Governor of the Rostov Region, the Novosibirsk City Administration, ministries and departments, as well as guests from the Altai Krai and Tomsk Region. Compatriots from the Tomsk, Omsk and Kemerovo regions – Kuzbass, the Krasnoyarsk Krai and other regions of Siberia became the guests of honour.

Opening the event, General Consul of Uzbekistan Aslam Akbarov noted the special significance of independence for the multiethnic people of the country and the achievements of Uzbekistan over the past 10 years.

Particular attention was paid to the development of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia, including at the interregional level. In particular, Acting Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship Development of the Novosibirsk Region Denis Ryaguzov noted the high level of trade and economic interaction between the Surkhandarya and Novosibirsk regions.

Meeting also featured the reading of a congratulatory message from the Governor of the Novosibirsk Region, Andrey Travnikov, which noted that Independence Day symbolizes the sovereignty and prosperity of Uzbekistan.

Compatriots from various regions of Siberia emphasized their connection to the homeland and expressed gratitude to the leadership of the country for the attention and support extended to citizens of Uzbekistan abroad.

Head of the “Socio-Cultural Center of the Peoples of Uzbekistan” of the Omsk Region, Feruza Adasheva, who was recently awarded the “Friendship of Nations” badge, highlighted the importance of the holiday for compatriots abroad and noted her work in popularizing the cultural and historical heritage of Uzbekistan.

Guests of the event, including representatives from Central Asian countries and China, expressed their respect for Uzbekistan and its people, and highly praised the country's achievements.

Festive program was complemented by performances of the “Yarada” Uzbek dance ensemble from Tomsk, video materials dedicated to the 35^th Anniversary of independence and an exhibition of national costumes, apparel and ceramics.

Evening concluded with an Uzbek dastarkhán featuring plov, samsa, and other dishes of the national cuisine.
