TASHKENT, September 20. /Dunyo IA/. A Syrian delegation led by Minister of Economy and Industry Nedal Alchaar visited Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the visit, Nedal Alchaar held talks with Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov.

The sides discussed mechanisms for attracting investment, the development of industrial and trade projects, as well as Uzbekistan’s experience in simplifying the process for investors – from identifying opportunities to implementing projects.

Following the talks, the ministries signed a memorandum on the establishment of a Joint Economic and Trade Committee. The committee will facilitate information exchange, identify new business opportunities, address emerging issues, and prepare proposals for developing trade and partnership.

The committee’s meetings are planned to be held annually, alternately in Syria and Uzbekistan, with the participation of private-sector representatives.

The Syrian side also studied Uzbekistan’s experience in industrial development and discussed the possibility of adapting the models used in Uzbekistan to Syria’s needs, including increasing the competitiveness of industry and expanding production.

On September 19, the Uzbek-Syrian Business Foru was held in Tashkent. The Syrian side was represented by executives from more than 30 major companies operating in the textile, pharmaceutical, food and chemical industries, agriculture, construction materials manufacturing, electrical engineering and other sectors.

During the talks, particular attention was paid to cooperation in the field of exhibitions. Director General of the Syrian Exhibitions and International Markets Establishment, Mohammad Hamza, discussed holding a Made in Uzbekistan exhibition in Damascus, establishing national pavilions at exhibitions in both countries, as well as organizing economic forums and direct business meetings.
