Uzbekistan enters Top 5 Global Destinations for Solo and Independent Travel

KYIV, September 10. /Dunyo IA/. Uzbekistan has been named among the top five destinations in the world for solo travel in 2026 by the international travel platform Much Better Adventures, reports Dunyo correspondent, citing with “Kyiv Diplomatic”.
In the “Solo Travel Index 2026”, experts assessed 26 countries based on booking trends, traveller feedback, safety levels, visa accessibility, meal costs and biodiversity. Uzbekistan ranked alongside Italy, Japan and Portugal.
Authors noted growing interest among American travellers following the introduction of 30-day visa-free entry for U.S. citizens, highlighting the country’s historical heritage, diverse landscapes and developed tourism infrastructure among its advantages.
For solo travellers, the publication recommends hiking routes in the Nuratau Mountains, overnight stays in traditional yurts, and a journey across the Kyzylkum Desert to Lake Aydarkul.
Cultural heritage of Samarkand, Bukhara and other ancient cities associated with the history of the Great Silk Road is also highlighted. Uzbekistan also stands out for the affordability of travel and was previously included by “Condé Nast Traveller” among the world’s most affordable travel destinations.
