HELENA, September 4. /Dunyo IA/. In celebration of the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s state independence, Montana Governor Greg Gianforte has officially proclaimed September 1, 2026, as “Uzbekistan Independence Day” throughout the state, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

In the special proclamation signed by the Governor, it is noted that the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence is an important historical milestone symbolizing the country’s sovereignty, rich cultural heritage, and consistent commitment to peace, prosperity and national development.

The document highlights the large-scale reforms being carried out under Uzbekistan’s leadership, the country’s active role on the international stage, and its contribution to strengthening regional cooperation and ensuring stability in Central Asia.

The proclamation also underscores the historic significance of the opening of Uzbekistan’s first Consulate General in Seattle, which will provide consular services, including to residents of Montana, and contribute to further strengthening bilateral cultural, economic and educational ties.

In this regard, the document recognizes the continued efforts of the Uzbek-American community and expresses the State of Montana’s readiness to further develop friendship and mutually beneficial relations with Uzbekistan.

Montana is one of the largest U.S. states by land area and has significant economic potential in such sectors as advanced technology, agrotechnology, energy and biotechnology.
