“Al-diplomasy”: Seoul Summit to Open a New Chapter in Uzbekistan–South Korea Partnership

CAIRO, September 4. /Dunyo IA/. The Egyptian portal “Al-diplomasy” has published an analytical article dedicated to the upcoming first Central Asia–Republic of Korea Summit in Seoul, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The publication emphasizes that the upcoming events will take regional cooperation to a practical level, further strengthening the special strategic partnership and technological integration. It highlights the impressive economic foundation of bilateral cooperation: South Korean foreign direct investment in Uzbekistan has exceeded $8 billion, while bilateral trade in the first half of 2026 increased by 11.5 percent, approaching $1 billion.

Particular attention is given to key areas of cooperation, including the institutionalization of industrial dialogue at the level of relevant ministries and the development of a full-cycle processing system for critical metals, building on the Uzbekistan–Korea Science and Technology Center. The article also highlights efforts to expand financing for joint projects under the $2 billion EDCF program for 2024–2027, as well as investment in human capital through a network of vocational training centers being established in Uzbekistan’s regions with the support of KOICA.

As “Al-diplomasy” concludes, the combined efforts surrounding the Seoul Summit and the upcoming presidential visit underscore Uzbekistan’s role not merely as a consumer of technologies, but as an active architect of a new industrial and innovation ecosystem across the Central Asian region.
