BAKU, March 13. /Dunyo IA/.  The premiere of a play dedicated to the life and achievements of the great commander and statesman Amir Temur took place in Baku, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event was part of the celebrations for the 690th anniversary of his birth and gathered numerous guests from various countries. The performance was staged at the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theatre in honor of National Theatre Day.

The audience included the Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Adil Kerimli, Member of the National Assembly (Milli Majlis) Gunay Efendiyeva, and other prominent figures in culture and art, as well as heads of theatres from Turkic-speaking countries. An exhibition titled “Turkic World: Common roots and values” was organized for the guests, offering a closer look at the history and culture of Turkic peoples.

The premiere of the play “Amir Temur: A Man Ahead of His Time” was prepared jointly by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, National Drama Theatre (“Azdrama”) and Embassy of Uzbekistan.

Guests noted the significance of strengthening cultural ties between the two countries and the importance of popularizing great historical figures. The Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Bahromjon Ashrafkhanov, emphasized that Amir Temur made a monumental contribution to the history of the Turkic world and the entire globe: he facilitated the development of statehood, the construction of major cities, as well as the advancement of science and culture.

The performance made a powerful impression on the audience. Following the premiere, many expressed a desire to study the life and legacy of the great commander more deeply.
