RIYADH, May 7. /Dunyo IA/. A “roundtable” dedicated to strengthening ties between the countries of Central Asia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) was held in the capital of Saudi Arabia, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event, held at the Gulf Research Centre, was attended by the ambassadors and diplomats of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan, as well as representatives of the GCC Secretariat.

“Roundtable” participants discussed the current state and prospects for further strengthening cooperation between the Central Asia and Gulf regions.

The parties particularly emphasized that since the first historic “Central Asia – GCC Summit” in Jeddah, the interregional dialogue has moved to a fundamentally new level and expanded significantly. It was noted that the foundation laid at the highest level has allowed for the intensification of contacts across all areas, and that the current dynamics are a direct continuation of the course toward rapprochement set by the heads of state.

During the event, practical ways to expand cooperation beyond traditional diplomatic dialogue were also discussed. Participants emphasized the importance of implementing joint infrastructure projects that could link the two regions into a unified economic network. It was specifically noted that creating new trans-regional corridors and developing trade routes between Central Asia and the Gulf is a priority task capable of significantly impacting the economic map of Eurasia.

The diplomats stressed that both regions possess complementary resources, opening unique opportunities for implementing large-scale investment projects and deepening economic cooperation.
