First round of Consular Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan-Saudi Arabia Convene in Riyadh

On December 23, in the city of Riyadh, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Olimjon Abdullaev and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Consular Affairs, Ihab bin Muhammad Al-Najjar held the first round of Consular Consultations between Foreign Ministries, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, during the negotiations, issues related to protecting the rights and interests of citizens, improving mechanisms for mutual notification in cases of detention, temporary holding and deportation were discussed. Specific agreements were also reached on strengthening cooperation in the field of labor migration, mutual recognition of documents and the apostil system, as well as exchanging experience in the digitalization of migration and consular services.
An agreement was reached on implementing in Uzbekistan a new digital platform planned to be introduced in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for foreign nationals. This system will serve to identify in advance and effectively resolve issues that may arise during the stay of foreign citizens in Saudi Arabia.
Parties agreed to hold the second round of Consular Consultations in the city of Tashkent.
