Kuala Lumpur hosts presentation highlighting Uzbekistan’s pilgrimage tourism prospects

• 78KUALA LUMPUR, December 25. /Dunyo IA/. The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia hosted a presentation highlighting the country’s pilgrimage tourism potential, along with a B2B meeting for tour operators, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
To actively attract foreign visitors, it was emphasized that citizens of more than 90 countries, including Malaysia, can enter Uzbekistan visa-free.
The event was attended by leadership from the Malaysian Association of Tour Operators - “Bumitra” and representatives of local travel companies.
Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Karomiddin Gadoev, briefed participants on the extensive reforms underway in the country’s tourism sector. In particular, he noted that, under the initiative of the Head of our State, a major construction project is being carried out in the Samarkand region for the new Imam al-Bukhari complex, aimed at creating favorable conditions for pilgrims from Muslim countries.
Ambassador also highlighted the convenience of travel between Tashkent, Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi Island, with direct flights operated by “Uzbekistan Airways”, “Batik Air” and “AirAsia”, with frequencies of up to eight flights per week. These connections are expected to boost tourist flows from Southeast Asia to Central Asia, including Uzbekistan.
Participants were introduced to a wide range of tourist services offered by Uzbek travel companies, including specialized programs in Bukhara, Samarkand, Khorezm regions and the capital city. Key tourism segments presented included pilgrimage tourism, winter tourism, culinary tourism and “Umrah Plus” packages.
During the B2B meetings, tour operators from both countries reached concrete agreements to promote new destinations and other tourism packages in the Malaysian market, strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia’s tourism sectors.
