BANGKOK, September 7. /Dunyo IA/.  A solemn event dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the independence of our country was held at the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Thailand, reports reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Event was attended by diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, the Embassies of Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Bhutan, representatives of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), International Organization for Migration, alongside other distinguished guests.

Consul General of Uzbekistan, Fakhriddin Sultanov, outlined the major achievements of our country in the political, social, and economic spheres over the past decade under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In particular, it was noted that a strategic target has been set to elevate the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to 300 billion dollars by 2030.

Turning to foreign policy, it was emphasized that Uzbekistan implements a multi-vector, prudent, and balanced foreign policy course aimed at transforming the nation into a prominent hub of international diplomacy. Special attention was drawn to the fact that relations with neighboring states have transitioned from a confrontation-based approach toward an open and constructive dialogue.

Ambassador of Azerbaijan Elchin Bashirov, noted the positive dynamics observed in recent years in bilateral relations between our countries. He particularly emphasized the friendly and warm relations between the leaders of the two states, pointed out the existence of vast opportunities for the further development of ties between the nations, and expressed confidence in the consistent continuation of bilateral cooperation.

Among the participants of the event were those who had previously visited Uzbekistan. They shared their impressions of our country’s rich history and culture, its arts and prominent landmarks.

Within the framework of the festive program, students of the Bangkok Dance Academy performed the Lazgi and other Uzbek national dances. The performance was staged based on a choreography developed by the academy’s chief choreographer, our compatriot Kuralbay Saparov.

Guests were presented with informative materials highlighting Uzbekistan’s rich tourism potential. Additionally, a festive reception was organized for the participants, featuring traditional dishes of Uzbek national cuisine.
