MOSCOW, January 21. /"Dunyo" IA/. The Russian information agency "Vesti Turizm" has published an article entitled “The Tourism Boom in Uzbekistan Is Redrawing the Travel Map of Central Asia,” "Dunyo" IA's correspondent reports.
The article notes that in 2025 Uzbekistan experienced one of the most significant tourism upswings in Central Asia, receiving a record number of foreign tourists. This boom was driven by regional travel flows, visa liberalization, and improved transport accessibility.
“According to data from the National Statistics Committee, inbound tourism to Uzbekistan surged to 11.7 million foreign visitors in 2025. The total number of arrivals increased by 3.7 million people, or 46.8 percent, compared to 2024,” - the publication states.
It further emphasizes that, according to international reports based on UN Tourism data, Uzbekistan ranks among the world’s fastest-growing tourist destinations in 2025, with arrivals increasing by approximately 73 percent compared to 2019.
In conclusion, "Vesti Turizm" notes that Uzbekistan’s 2025 figures highlight a broader structural reality: the tourism boom in Central Asia is being driven primarily from within the region itself. “A large number of neighboring source markets corresponds to an emerging model of multi-stage travel—for example, a core Samarkand–Bukhara itinerary complemented by additional stops in cities and natural sites of Kazakhstan, or at lakes and mountain destinations in Kyrgyzstan,” - the agency summarizes.
