Parliamentarians of Uzbekistan and Qatar discuss prospects for further cooperation

DOHA, December 17. /Dunyo IA/. On December 15, an online meeting was held between members of the inter-parliamentary friendship groups of the representative bodies of Uzbekistan and Qatar, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The Uzbek side was represented by Chairman of the Committee of the Legislative Chamber on Anti-Corruption and Judicial Affairs of the Senate of Oliy Majlis, Co-Chair of the Uzbekistan–Qatar Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Abdulhakim Eshmurodov; Chairman of the Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Sports and Youth of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Co-Chair of the friendship group from that chamber Nodir Jumaev; as well as other members of the friendship group. The Qatari side was represented by Ahmed bin Hitmi, member of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee and Chairman of the Qatari-Asian Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Council (Majlis Al-Shura) and Chairman of the Qatar–Asia Parliamentary Friendship Group.
During the online meeting, the participants held detailed discussions on issues related to the further development of cooperation between the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Qatar. The Uzbek side put forward a number of proposals aimed at intensifying inter-parliamentary relations, establishing regular dialogue within the framework of the friendship groups, exchanging legislative experience, and promoting mutually beneficial initiatives.
In particular, special attention was paid to strengthening cooperation between relevant parliamentary committees, as well as to supporting interaction in the trade and economic, investment, and social and humanitarian spheres through inter-parliamentary dialogue.
The Qatari side positively received the proposals and initiatives of Uzbekistan, emphasizing its readiness to contribute to the further strengthening of friendly and trust-based relations between the two countries.
The parties agreed to consistently continue inter-parliamentary cooperation and to conduct reciprocal visits, including the regular organization of similar online and in-person meetings in the future.
The online dialogue was held in an open and constructive atmosphere and became an important step toward enhancing inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries.
