Uzbek Parliamentarians Meet with Speaker of UK House of Commons

LONDON, October 10. /Dunyo IA/. Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan, met with Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, on the sidelines of the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Arusha, Tanzania, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The sides discussed the development of Uzbek-British relations and the expansion of interparliamentary cooperation, including interaction between relevant committees and parliamentary groups.
Lindsay Hoyle expressed his appreciation for having attended, as an honorary guest, an event organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United Kingdom to mark the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence. He praised the high level of organization and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples.
Particular attention was paid to expanding educational ties. The sides noted growing interest among young people in Uzbekistan in learning English and pursuing education in the United Kingdom. They also discussed opportunities for cooperation with British universities and educational institutions.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on expanding trade and economic cooperation and strengthening ties in healthcare and security.
