SAMARKAND, April 20. /Dunyo IA/. A global forum titled “Combating Transnational Drug Threats to Ensure Public Health and Security” has begun its work in the city of Samarkand, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event is organized by the Agency for Control over Narcotics and Firearms of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Representatives of more than 20 international organizations, including the UN, EU, SCO, CIS, and WHO, are participating in the forum.

The event also brings together heads of law enforcement agencies from around 50 countries, as well as around 500 international experts.

The forum opened with a high-level exhibition. During the plenary session, Bo Mathiasen, Director of Division for Operations of the UNODC, delivered a welcoming speech.

Within the framework of the forum, it is planned to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Agency for Control over Narcotics and Firearms and the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP).
