Grand Opening of "Vatan" Cultural Center Celebrates Uzbek Heritage in Philadelphia

NEW YORK, February 22. /"Dunyo" IA /. The official inauguration of the Uzbek cultural center "Vatan" took place in Philadelphia, PA.

The ceremony, attended by diaspora activists, compatriots, and graced by the presence of Shukhrat Kodirov, the head of the "Vatan" association, and Jamil Sharapov, Consul General of Uzbekistan in New York.
In his address, Shukhrat Kodirov emphasized that with a dedicated venue, the "Vatan" cultural center is poised to elevate its programming, hosting enriching cultural evenings and other noteworthy events to foster greater unity within the Uzbek community. Moreover, the center aims to serve as a guardian of Uzbek heritage, ensuring the preservation of its rich history, traditions, and customs.
Looking ahead, plans are underway to introduce Uzbek language and literature courses for children of Uzbek descent, along with various educational clubs designed to instill a deep-seated respect and appreciation for their ancestral homeland among the younger generation.
Attendees reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Uzbekistan’s endeavors in safeguarding its cultural legacy, even while residing in America, underscoring a collective dedication to preserving the cultural heritage of their Motherland.
This event follows the recent opening of the Uzbek language center for children, "Ziyo Art", in the Brooklyn district of New York, a testament to the collaborative efforts between the diaspora organization "Mahalla USA" and the Consulate General of Uzbekistan.
