Delegation of Uzbekistan study Sweden's experience in combating corruption

• 134STOCKHOLM, June 6. /Dunyo IA/. A delegation of Uzbekistan led by Akmal Burkhanov, Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, visited Sweden on a working visit, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the trip to the cities of Lund and Stockholm, meetings were held with representatives of leading Swedish anti-corruption institutions and international organizations.
At the meetings with Maria Jose Veramendi, representative of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and Daniela Cepeda, expert from the U4 Anti-Corruption Resource Centre, the parties reviewed issues of expanding cooperation in corruption prevention, professional development of specialists, and the exchange of experience. The parties reached an agreement to conduct joint educational events and expert consultations.
During the conversation with Victoria von Uexküll, Secretary General of the Swedish Anti-Corruption Institute, the parties discussed the Swedish experience in strengthening principles of integrity and transparency in the business environment, as well as ensuring civil servants' compliance with code of ethics and official conduct.
In addition, an exchange of views took place with Eva Hallström, Head of the Swedish National Anti-Corruption Unit, on identifying corruption risks in public procurement, the functioning of whistleblower protection mechanisms and the effective use of digital platforms.
At the meeting with Mats Jansson, Head of the National Anti-Corruption Unit of the Swedish Prosecution Authority, effective mechanisms for detecting and investigating corruption offenses were reviewed, along with preventive measures aimed at their deterrence.
Following the meetings, agreements were reached on the further development of practical cooperation, exchange of experience, and the organization of joint activities in the field of combating corruption.
