One of Scotland’s Oldest Universities considers prospects for opening a campus in Uzbekistan

LONDON, October 2. /Dunyo IA/. A meeting with the leadership of Heriot-Watt University was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Meeting addressed the implementation of joint projects in education, science and innovation, development of faculty and student exchange programmes, cooperation in research and professional development, as well as the possibility of Heriot-Watt University establishing its own campus in Uzbekistan.

University representatives expressed their readiness to further develop cooperation with higher education institutions in Uzbekistan.

In particular, University is interested in holding online meetings with Uzbek universities to discuss the implementation of joint educational projects, professional development programmes and training for academic staff, joint research, as well as cooperation under "dual-degree programmes".

University was founded in Scotland in 1821 as the School of Arts of Edinburgh. Today, public research university has around 31,000 students, including those enrolled at its international campuses and employs approximately 2,000 academic staff.

University is renowned for its research and innovative approaches to education. In international rankings, it is placed 325th in the QS World University Rankings and 401st in the "Times Higher Education" (THE) World University Rankings.
