Representatives of Uzbekistan study Germany’s experience in consumer protection

BERLIN, October 7. /Dunyo IA/.  Embassy of Uzbekistan in Germany hosted a “roundtable” discussion featuring a delegation from the Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who arrived in Berlin to study German best practices in this field, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meeting, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Germany Dilshod Akhatov, held talks with the delegation members to discuss the comprehensive improvement of the national consumer protection system, the thorough examination of Germany’s institutional and practical mechanisms, and the further advancement of professional cooperation between the relevant authorities of the two nations.

Participants emphasized the importance of ensuring the reliable protection of consumer interests amidst the rapid expansion of financial and digital services, providing the population with transparent and objective information, effectively processing appeals, implementing out-of-court dispute resolution mechanisms and enhancing financial literacy.

Visit program entails a comprehensive study of Germany’s advanced experience in protecting financial services consumers, conducting market monitoring and performing comparative assessments of financial products. Special emphasis is placed on safeguarding consumers within digital markets, preventing unfair commercial practices, ensuring the responsible deployment of artificial intelligence, preventing over-indebtedness and supporting socially vulnerable segments of the population.

Furthermore, delegation will examine the established frameworks for interaction among government agencies, financial supervisory authorities, independent organizations and civil society institutions.

Experience gained is intended to be adapted to the conditions of Uzbekistan and utilized to enhance the processing of citizens' appeals, market monitoring, and mechanisms for increasing financial literacy.

Professional and informational visit is taking place on October 4–10th, organized by the German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation. In Berlin, the delegation will continue holding meetings with relevant organizations, participating in roundtable discussions, and exchanging practical expertise.

Visit is expected to contribute to strengthening the institutional capacity of the consumer rights protection system in Uzbekistan, advancing the professional qualifications of specialists and expanding cooperation with German organizations.
