NOVOSIBIRSK, October 7. /Dunyo IA/.  Fergana hosted the inaugural “Days of Siberia in Uzbekistan” international forum, bringing together representatives from six Siberian regions of Russia, business circles and higher education institutions, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Event was co-organized by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk and Administration of the Krasnoyarsk Krai. Forum was attended by the governors of the Novosibirsk and Omsk oblasts, Krasnoyarsk and Altai krais, delegations from the Tomsk Oblast and the Republic of Altai, as well as heads of universities, major companies and enterprises.

Primary objective of the forum was to expand trade, economic, educational, cultural and tourism ties between the regions of Siberia and Uzbekistan, establish new business contacts and promote products of Siberian manufacturers.

Program included business negotiations, presentations by leading Siberian universities, and panel sessions focused on the development of long-term economic cooperation. Governors of the Novosibirsk Oblast, Krasnoyarsk Krai and Altai Krai also visited enterprises in the Fergana and Andijan regions, including logistics centers, “Crown Ceramics” porcelain stoneware manufacturing plant, “KVARS” enterprise, “Quva-Agro Star” agro-logistics complex, greenhouse facilities and “Fergana Global Textile”.

A presentation of Siberian higher education institutions was held at Fergana State University with the support of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Uzbekistan. Following the meeting, agreements on academic exchanges and joint projects were signed, while representatives of universities from the Novosibirsk Oblast and Altai Krai expressed interest in attracting a larger number of students from Uzbekistan.

The largest business delegation was presented by the Krasnoyarsk Krai, comprising 12 companies from the sectors of transportation, mechanical engineering, woodworking, packaging manufacturing and digital technologies.

Following the negotiations, Fergana Region and the Krasnoyarsk Krai signed a memorandum of cooperation and understanding. Additionally, a memorandum of cooperation in the agro-industrial sector and the implementation of joint investment projects was concluded between the Sokh District of the Fergana Region and the Omsk Oblast.

Furthermore, memorandums on the development of cooperation were signed between the Surxondaryo and Namangan regions and the Krasnoyarsk Krai.

During the forum, it was highlighted that a joint project involving investors from the Omsk Oblast, valued at 50 million dollars, is already underway in the Kuva District of the Fergana Region. Concurrently, the 20-hectare “Fruit City” wholesale distribution center for Uzbek agricultural products operates in Omsk, while the 128-hectare “Eurasia–Siberia” center functions in Novosibirsk.

Another prime example of collaboration is the “ZDRAVMEDTECH-Asia” enterprise in the “Chirchik” Chemical-Industrial Park, which manufactures single-use medical devices. Company's immediate plans include the construction of a sterilization center and the launch of new production facilities in the Fergana Region.
