International Conference of Women Scientists from Uzbekistan and Türkiye held in Istanbul

An international scientific conference on the topic “Activities of Women Scientists in Türkiye and Uzbekistan”, organized by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in cooperation with a number of scientific, educational and public organizations of the two countries, was held at Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Rector of the University Professor, Dr. Hasan Mandal; İTÜ Professor Hatice Ayataç; Chairman of the Council of Turkic Peoples Mahmut Oral and Consul General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul Sherzod Abdunazarov.
In his speech, the Consul General noted that in recent years, New Uzbekistan has been consistently implementing large-scale reforms aimed at expanding the participation of women in the fields of science, education, and innovation. It was emphasized that supporting women, creating conditions for international educational and scientific exchange and ensuring gender equality in the scientific community have become important priorities of the country's state policy.
Within the framework of the conference, reports were presented on the scientific research activities of Uzbek and Turkish women scientists, issues of gender equality, the role of women in the education system, as well as current challenges in the academic environment and ways to resolve them.
From the Uzbek side, presentations were delivered by Professor of the Turan Academy of Sciences Lutfiya Mirzaeva, Professor of the Tashkent State University of Economics Dilobar Rozieva, Associate Professor of Bukhara State University Mehrinigor Akhmedova and member of the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan Munizhatkhon Nurmatova. In their speeches, they highlighted issues of state support for women scientists in Uzbekistan, gender reforms and achieved scientific results.
Turkish participants of the forum, in turn, presented information on the activities of women's research centers, the participation of women in the academic environment and topical issues regarding the development of women's scientific potential.
Following the event, the parties reaffirmed their interest in further expanding scientific and academic cooperation between the higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan and Türkiye, implementing joint research and developing international scientific platforms involving women scientists.
