TASHKENT, May 23. /Dunyo IA/. Within the framework of strategic cooperation between the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan and the world-famous French oncology center “Gustave Roussy Institute”, the official opening ceremony of the "Gustave Roussy International – Uzbekistan" project took place on May 20^th at the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Oncology and Radiology, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

This project is an important step towards introducing international standards of oncology care in Uzbekistan, developing modern clinical approaches and improving the management system in the field of oncology.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Director-General of the “Gustave Roussy Institute”, Fabrice Barlesi, representatives of the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Health, international experts and leading specialists in the oncology industry.

Within the framework of cooperation, the introduction of “Gustave Roussy” quality standards and “European Society for Medical Oncology” protocols is being carried out, along with the improvement of clinical and organizational processes, the introduction of modern methods for diagnosing and treating oncological diseases, and the testing of breast cancer treatment protocols.

During the visit of the delegation from the “Gustave Roussy Institute” oncology center, the first meeting of the project's Steering Committee will take place, during which its composition, format of activities, and main areas of interaction will be approved. The Committee will monitor the implementation of the project, evaluate the results achieved, and coordinate the further stages of cooperation.

The program of the visit also includes familiarization with the activities of the Republican Oncology Center, the “patient pathway” system, conducting an MDT (Multidisciplinary Team) on colorectal cancer, as well as a visit to the Samarkand branch of the Center.

The launch of the “Gustave Roussy International – Uzbekistan” project will become an important stage in the development of international cooperation, improving the quality of high-tech oncology care, and strengthening Uzbekistan's position as a regional medical hub.
