Uzbek wrestler claims first Greco-Roman World championship gold in 24 years in Zagreb

TASHKENT, September 22. /Dunyo IA/. Aytjan Khalmakhanov, a member of the Uzbekistan national wrestling team, has claimed the gold medal in the Greco-Roman division at the World Wrestling Championships held in Zagreb, Croatia, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, Aytjan competed in the -63 kg weight category and defeated South Korean athlete Chung Han-Jae in the decisive final match, thereby securing the title of World Champion. With this victory, he became the first Uzbek athlete in 24 years to claim the world championship title in Greco-Roman wrestling.
The Uzbekistan national wrestling team secured a total of one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals at the recent World Wrestling Championships.
