KUALA LUMPUR, June 8. /Dunyo IA/.  Diplomats from our country organized a roadshow in Perak State - one of Malaysia's regions with a predominantly Muslim population - dedicated to the pilgrimage tourism potential of Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event was attended by the leadership of “TH Travel”, operating under the “Tabung Haji” state board for the organization of Hajj and Umrah, representatives of the “Bumitra” Association of Travel Agencies, renowned Islamic scholar and lecturer at the “Al-Baraka” religious educational institution Ustaz Kazim Elias, his colleagues and students, as well as representatives of local media.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan Karomiddin Gadoev presented information to the participants regarding the reforms implemented in recent years in the field of pilgrimage tourism, and also spoke about the country's new tourist sites and routes. Particular attention was paid to the facilities and opportunities created for pilgrims from Malaysia, including the Imam al-Bukhari complex in Samarkand and the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent.

During the event, tourist routes developed within the “Umrah Plus” program were actively promoted. In particular, it was announced with satisfaction that a pilgrimage trip to Uzbekistan for a group of 100–150 Malaysian citizens is already planned for this year under the guidance of Ustaz Kazim Elias, a highly renowned religious figure in Malaysia. Ustaz Kazim Elias also urged Malaysian partners and students studying Islamic studies to visit the homeland of Imam al-Bukhari.

Within the framework of the upcoming visit, the Malaysian pilgrims will be able to familiarize themselves with a number of historical and religious sights in Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara regions.

During the open dialogue, participants received answers to questions regarding Uzbekistan's tourism industry, including the development of pilgrimage tourism.

Following the event, the parties agreed to intensify cooperation in attracting pilgrims from Malaysia to Uzbekistan under the “Umrah Plus” program and to expand the scope of interaction in this direction throughout the current year.
