Washington State Proclaims September 1 Uzbekistan Independence Day

SEATTLE, September 5. /Dunyo IA/. Washington Governor Bob Ferguson has officially proclaimed September 1 as “Uzbekistan Independence Day” throughout the state in honour of the 35th anniversary of the Republic of Uzbekistan’s independence, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The proclamation highlights the historical significance of Uzbekistan’s independence, its rich cultural heritage, and its commitment to peace, prosperity and national development.

The document also underscores the expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States in trade, investment, technology, education, clean energy, tourism and humanitarian exchanges.

Particular attention is given to the opening of Uzbekistan’s first Consulate General in the United States in Seattle, described as a new link between Washington State and Uzbekistan. The proclamation also commends the Uzbek-American community in the state for its contribution to strengthening cultural and business ties.

September 1 has also been proclaimed Uzbekistan Independence Day by the states of Oregon, as well as the cities of Seattle, SeaTac and Washington. The governor’s decision provides further evidence of the strengthening ties between Uzbekistan and the United States.
