In the first half of 2026, Consulate General of Uzbekistan institutionalized a comprehensive framework to defend the statutory rights and legal welfare of Uzbek citizens confronting force majeure scenarios within its jurisdictional territory, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Over the review period, a total of 1,832 compatriots received strategic consular, legal, material, and logistical protection. Notably, utilizing state budgetary reserves, emergency repatriation certificates were institutionalized for more than 500 citizens, temporary housing accommodations were organized for 30 displaced nationals and fully subsidized air travel was arranged for 20 compatriots suffering extreme economic vulnerability to facilitate their safe return to the homeland.
Moreover, the mission facilitated the post-mortem repatriation of six Uzbek nationals who lost their lives in various tragic incidents. Concurrently, six citizens engaged in labour activities within the jurisdiction who required immediate medical intervention were institutionalized in specialized clinical facilities, with the entire financial burden of their treatment absorbed by state budgetary allocations.
In enforcing the protection of citizens' labour rights, Consulate General successfully executed the recovery and restitution of passports and alternative identity instruments illegally sequestered by non-compliant employers, fully restoring the legal status of 185 nationals of Uzbekistan.
Special attention was focused on structured interactions with citizens placed in temporary detention centers. Officials of the Consulate General convened virtual consultations with over 500 Uzbek nationals, investigated their grievances, and formalized the essential transit documentation required for their repatriation.
Furthermore, to mitigate the issues faced by nationals experiencing sudden homelessness during their labour deployment, Consulate General executed strategic bilateral agreements with the management of two hostels located within its jurisdiction, establishing a secured safety net for the temporary lodging of vulnerable compatriots.
In the first six months of the year, diplomatic officials conducted field inspections across 18 construction sites within the city of Almaty where national citizens are deployed, convening open-forum discussions with more than 600 migrant workers.
During these on-site briefings, compatriots were thoroughly appraised of the robust state support frameworks implemented upon the personal initiative of the President of Uzbekistan to benefit citizens engaged in overseas labour, the institutional social safeguards extended to their immediate family members, and the progressive mechanisms newly introduced by the Migration Agency.
Simultaneously, the diplomatic mission provided rigorous clarifications regarding the statutory requirements of the migration legislation of Kazakhstan. Furthermore, legal and security briefings were systematically conducted to prevent the radicalization or recruitment of citizens into destructive religious and terrorist organizations, while accentuating the categorical impermissibility of maintaining contacts with individuals affiliated with such unlawful syndicates.
