TASHKENT, September 24. /Dunyo IA/. Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Akkulov today met with Türkiye’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, who arrived in Uzbekistan on a visit, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the talks, the sides discussed further development of Uzbek-Turkish cooperation in tourism, exchange of experience, implementation of joint projects, promotion of the tourism potential of the two countries, development of tourism infrastructure and increasing mutual tourist flows.

As Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Akkulov told Dunyo IA, particular attention during the meeting was paid to applying Türkiye’s experience in implementing tourism infrastructure development projects in Uzbekistan.

“During the meeting, we discussed issues related to the development of bilateral cooperation, briefed the Turkish side on the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector and reached agreements on cooperation in a number of areas.

In particular, we presented the master plans developed by our project office for tourism infrastructure development, established at the initiative of our President. As is known, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye, together with Cappadocia University, has extensive experience in developing existing resort and recreational areas in Türkiye based on master plans.

We presented the projects developed by our specialists and agreed to further refine them jointly, hold additional meetings and improve and finalize the projects taking into account all relevant aspects.

We also exchanged views on the joint promotion of the tourism potential of Uzbekistan and Türkiye. We held talks on cooperation with Türkiye’s Tourism Promotion and Development Agency GoTürkiye, including promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism potential and exchanging experience.

We also agreed to cooperate in the field of education with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), as well as to organize bilateral exchanges. In this area, we also reached an agreement with the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye on developing cooperation and exchanging experience.

We presented our plans aimed at attracting tourists not only during the seasonal period but throughout the year by developing such areas as film tourism, medical tourism and other types of tourism. In this regard, we discussed the possibility of jointly developing these areas with the involvement of Turkish experts and taking into account Türkiye’s experience.

At the same time, the Turkish side put forward a number of proposals aimed at increasing the number of existing flights, further expanding cooperation between the airlines of the two countries and, consequently, increasing tourist flows.”

Jakhongir Saidov, Head of the Diversification Department of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, noted that digital tools are playing an increasingly important role in the international promotion of tourism destinations.

“At today’s meeting, an agreement was reached to further develop cooperation between the PR Center of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan and Türkiye’s Tourism Promotion and Development Agency. The agreement envisages exchanging experience and developing joint activities to promote tourism through digital platforms.

Another important area of cooperation will be the development of tourism infrastructure. We agreed to establish cooperation between the project office of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan and the project office at Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University in Türkiye.”
