Delegation of Uzbekistan participates in the ECOSOC Youth Forum in New York

NEW YORK, April 18. /Dunyo IA/. Delegation of Uzbekistan, led by the Director of the Agency for Youth Affairs Alisher Sadullaev, took part in the “ECOSOC Youth Forum”, which was held on April 14-16th at the UN Headquarters in New York, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
On the first day of the forum, Uzbek delegation participated in the opening ceremony and spoke at the plenary session dedicated to the theme of “Clean Water and Sanitation”.
In their speech, the representatives of Uzbekistan paid special attention to the consequences of the Aral Sea crisis and the measures being taken to overcome it. Initiatives for ecological restoration were presented, including the national “Yashil Makon” program and the activities of the Green Initiatives Support Fund.
Delegation also highlighted measures for developing youth entrepreneurship, including the Youth Entrepreneurship Development Fund and the “Yoshlar Ventures” platform, aimed at supporting young innovators and scaling their projects.
A separate focus was placed on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, proposed at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, to establish a Global Youth Movement for Peace and to host its headquarters in Uzbekistan.
The ECOSOC Youth Forum is held annually under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council and serves as a platform for discussing the youth agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. The delegation of Uzbekistan has been participating in the event on a regular basis since 2018.
