BIAŁYSTOK, February 8. /Dunyo IA/. Representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Poland visited the Podlaskie Voivodeship, holding a series of productive meetings to discuss expanding interregional cooperation, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Podlaskie, located in northeastern Poland, has a well-developed agricultural, food processing, poultry, and transport-logistics sector. During the visit, the delegation met with Marshal Łukasz Prokorym, discussing potential collaboration between Khorezm Region and Podlaskie in agriculture, food processing, transport and communications, IT, furniture manufacturing, education, sports, and tourism.

Łukasz Prokorym expressed readiness to visit Uzbekistan in 2026, including Khorezm and Tashkent regions as part of a business mission. He praised the results of the 2024 business mission led by the Mayor of Białystok, Tadeusz Truskolaski, noting its role in boosting bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation.

Podlaskie boasts strong agro-industrial and metallurgical sectors, innovative production, and export-oriented companies. Leading regional firms such as Pronar (agricultural machinery), Mlekovita (dairy products), and Iglosron (refrigeration equipment) expressed interest in investment projects in Khorezm and Tashkent regions.

The Polish side also expressed interest in establishing partnerships with Uzbek universities, particularly in Khorezm. Representatives of these universities and companies plan to participate in the next business mission to Uzbekistan.

The delegation also met with Wojciech Borzym, Mayor of Drohiczyn; the Vice President of the Polish National Chamber of Commerce; the President of the Podlaskie Economic Forum and Honorary President of the Białystok Chamber of Commerce; Witold Karczewski, President of Contractus (agriculture and food processing); and Aleksander Prokopiuk, Rector of the Białystok University of Economics.

At the conclusion of the visit, a memorandum of cooperation was signed to promote trade, attract investment, develop agro-tourism, and expand practical collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

Witold Karczewski confirmed his intention to personally participate in the next business mission from Białystok to Uzbekistan in 2026, expressing hope that Uzbekistan will take active steps to implement trade and investment agreements reached during previous visits. Aleksander Prokopiuk invited Uzbek representatives to the international scientific conference “Global and Regional Integration in the Context of Economic and Geopolitical Changes”, scheduled for May 14–16, 2026, in Białystok, and announced plans to open a branch of Białystok University of Economics in Uzbekistan in the near future.
