International Consortium with Pakistan and South Korea launches projects in Uzbekistan

ISLAMABAD, February 24. /Dunyo IA/. A meeting was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan with Muhammad Aslam Malik, Chief Operating Officer of the Pakistani company “Habib Rafiq (Pvt.) Ltd.”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Representatives of HRL’s strategic and technological partners from the Republic of Korea – “EN Technologies”, “Samoocm Architects & Engineers”, “Office for Civic Solutions” (OCS), “AKS Group Information Co. Ltd.”, “Skyline Profits Global Group of Companies” and “Big Tops Engineering” - also took part in the meeting.

Parties discussed the current state and prospects of Uzbek - Pakistani cooperation, as well as issues related to the joint implementation of infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan.

Muhammad Aslam Malik shared the outcomes of the January visit of the “Habib Rafiq (Pvt.) Ltd.” delegation to Uzbekistan. According to him, the visit resulted in agreements and the signing of documents on the implementation of a number of construction projects in Tashkent, Samarkand, Khiva and Nukus.

Representatives of the South Korean companies delivered detailed presentations on their activities. Particular attention was given to their implemented international projects, financial and technical capacities, the introduction of digital solutions in urban planning and governance, the construction of energy-efficient facilities, the establishment of industrial zones, the development of transport infrastructure, as well as their experience in attracting foreign direct investment through public-private partnership mechanisms.

Cho Kyung‑Hoon, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Office for Civic Solutions (OCS), a Seoul‑based urban and architectural planning think‑tank, noted that the company is currently implementing the “Uzbekistan Tashkent Smart Bio-Cluster Development” project in Uzbekistan, which provides for the establishment in Tashkent of a modern biotechnology and pharmaceutical cluster. The initiative incorporates elements of “smart” infrastructure, research centers and full-cycle production facilities.

In addition, the company is participating in the “Uzbekistan Angren Free Economic Zone Project”.

In turn, Muhammad Aslam Malik stated that for the implementation of the planned projects in Uzbekistan, “Habib Rafiq (Pvt.) Ltd.” has formed an international consortium involving South Korean companies. The consortium plans to carry out projects in the energy sector, development of railway infrastructure, construction of modern cities based on the “Smart City” concept, as well as in other promising areas.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to organize a visit to Uzbekistan for representatives of the South Korean companies that have expressed interest in participating in the planned projects.
