ALMATY, May 8. /Dunyo IA/.  Over the past month, diplomats from the Consulate General of Uzbekistan provided comprehensive consular, legal, financial, and practical assistance to 82 compatriots in difficult life situations, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

As part of these efforts, 11 citizens who lacked temporary housing were placed in hostels. Another 13 compatriots facing financial difficulties were provided with air tickets to return home.

Particular attention was paid to protecting migrant rights. Specifically, passports were recovered for 34 Uzbek citizens after being illegally withheld by unscrupulous employers.

Additionally, one citizen in need of urgent medical assistance was hospitalized, with all treatment costs fully covered by the state.

Consulate General staff conducted online meetings with 221 Uzbek citizens held in temporary detention facilities within the consular district. Following these appeals, the necessary documents for their return home were processed.

To provide additional support to citizens without housing, the Consulate General entered into a cooperation agreement with a local hostel.

Furthermore, a mobile consular outreach event was organized in Shymkent for Uzbek citizens living in the southern regions of Kazakhstan. During the event, more than 60 citizens received consular services, primarily related to biometric passport applications, document requests, citizenship issues and obtaining certificates for return to Uzbekistan.

To study the working and living conditions of compatriots, representatives of the Consulate General visited 10 construction sites in Almaty and Shymkent. During meetings with more than 170 migrants, information was provided on the opportunities created in Uzbekistan for citizens working abroad, benefits available to their family members and new initiatives from the Migration Agency.

Particular attention was paid to preventive work: citizens were advised on the necessity of strict compliance with Kazakhstan’s migration laws, as well as the inadmissibility of involvement in the activities of destructive religious and terrorist organizations.
