Uzbekistan emerges as a strategic market for rapidly expanding Egyptian pharmaceutical companies

CAIRO, January 17. /Dunyo IA/.  A meeting was held with Dr. Ahmad Assi, CEO of “Drug Pharma”, a leading pharmaceutical company in Egypt and his deputy, Kamal Abdellatif, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

“Drug Pharma”, a private pharmaceutical company established in 2016, specializes in the production and marketing of high-quality nutraceuticals, vitamin-mineral complexes and medicines for paediatrics, gynaecology, orthopaedics and general therapy. The company has secured a stable position in the domestic market, distributing its products through pharmacy networks and medical institutions, while also actively operating in several African and Middle Eastern markets.

Ahmad Assi reported that company’s total turnover in 2025 reached approximately USD 10 million, and the company expects this figure to double in 2026. He also highlighted that the company is gradually expanding production capacity, implementing modern technological equipment and obtaining certifications in line with international regulatory requirements, with the strategic goal of broadening its export markets in the near future.

Special attention was given to the opportunities for cooperation with Uzbekistan, including the export of finished products, localization of production and technology transfer initiatives.

Ahmad Assi noted that he had not previously visited Central Asia and expressed strong interest in organizing a visit to Uzbekistan. He highlighted his intention to explore existing cooperation opportunities in the country, investment prospects in pharmaceutical and other sectors and to gain a deeper understanding of Uzbekistan.

Additionally, he mentioned that his company organizes annual international trips for approximately 500 doctors who actively collaborate with “Drug Pharma”. It was suggested that Uzbekistan could be included as one of the destinations for these professional visits. Such an initiative would promote the country’s pharmaceutical, medical, and investment potential, expand professional ties with the Egyptian medical community, generate sustainable interest among Uzbek manufacturers, medical institutions and related entities and further stimulate the development of medical and business tourism.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to organize an online session between “Drug Pharma” representatives and the Uzbekistan Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry. The session is expected to discuss specific avenues of collaboration in detail.
