MOSCOW, March 9. /Dunyo IA/. On March 7, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia organized an iftar event for compatriots working and studying in the Russian capital. The gathering took place at the Moscow Memorial Mosque, reports Dunyo IA correspondent

As part of the event, an “Uzbekistan Evening” was held in the format of a festive iftar, bringing together more than 400 Uzbek citizens. The event was attended by the imam-khatib of the Khalifa Khudoydod Mosque, Odiljon Sadillollev, as well as representatives of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia.

Opening the event, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Russia, Botirjon Asadov, conveyed greetings to Uzbek citizens on behalf of the country’s leadership on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan. In his remarks, he expressed gratitude to compatriots who, despite various difficulties while living far from their homeland, work conscientiously abroad to support their families with honest earnings.

It was emphasized that, at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, extensive efforts are being undertaken in the country to create all necessary conditions for the appropriate observance of the holy month, support those in need, and organize charitable events.

During the gathering, guests were presented with detailed information about the rich history of Uzbekistan and the great contribution of the Uzbek people’s ancestors to world science and culture.

The cultural and educational program featured creative performances and unique video presentations highlighting the essence and significance of the large-scale reforms and transformations taking place in New Uzbekistan, including in the sphere of religious enlightenment.

Representatives of the Russian side particularly noted that Uzbekistan’s policy in the religious sphere, aimed at strengthening interfaith dialogue and religious tolerance in society, is an important factor for stability and security in the region.

At the end of the event, compatriots expressed their sincere gratitude to the President and the government of Uzbekistan for their attention and care toward every citizen of the country currently residing abroad.
