Kabul hosts sports competitions marking Defenders of the Motherland day

KABUL, January 16. /Dunyo IA/.  An intellectual quiz and sports competitions in chess and weightlifting were held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Afghanistan among members of the diplomatic mission, in commemoration of the 34th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan and Defenders of the Motherland Day, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

At the opening of the event, participants were briefed on the official congratulatory message from the President of Uzbekistan marking Defenders of the Motherland Day.

They were subsequently informed about the progress of reforms under the “Uzbekistan - 2030” Strategy as well as the country’s achievements in the fields of economy, education, sports and culture.

The competitions were then formally launched. Through a draw conducted by the judges, teams were formed for the intellectual quiz and chess matches.

Following a series of closely contested events, winners were determined and presented with commemorative gifts.

The sporting and intellectual activities held in Kabul to mark the 34th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan and Defenders of the Motherland Day took place in a warm and festive atmosphere, leaving participants with lasting and positive impressions.
