Ambassador of Uzbekistan and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan discuss prospects for bilateral cooperation

ISLAMABAD, January 3. /Dunyo IA/.  Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev met with Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Foreign Affairs Tarik Fatemi, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meeting, the Pakistani side was provided with detailed information about the content and significance of the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Particular attention was given to current issues in Uzbek-Pakistani relations.

Tarik Fatemi highly appreciated the reform process in Uzbekistan and emphasized its important role in the country’s development. He also noted the current state of Uzbek-Pakistani partnership, highlighting that the sincere, warm and friendly relations established between the heads of the two states facilitate the intensification of bilateral political dialogue and the expansion of cooperation in all areas.

“The Government of Pakistan highly values the role of President Mirziyoyev as a dynamic leader who has not only transformed the socio-economic landscape of the country but also given new momentum to the development of the entire Central Asian region”, - said Special Assistant to the Prime Minister.

The meeting discussed the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level.

Additionally, the parties discussed prospects for further deepening cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan in political, trade-economic, investment, tourism, cultural-humanitarian and other spheres.

The importance of creating favorable conditions for entrepreneurs to develop bilateral trade and economic cooperation was emphasized. In particular, attention was drawn to preventing potential disruptions in mutual trade and finding practical solutions to existing problems.

The export-import aspect of food products and their safety was also discussed. The parties considered the possibility of increasing imports of Pakistani mandarins that meet Uzbekistan’s phytosanitary requirements.

 

It was proposed to continue strengthening cooperation in the field of phytosanitary quarantine and plant protection, integrate national information systems in this area, and implement procedures to simplify obtaining phytosanitary certificates. Cooperation in this field is expected to further develop relations between the two countries in the agricultural sector and increase bilateral trade volumes.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to accelerate the development of Uzbek-Pakistani cooperation across all areas and continue dialogue on the issues discussed.
