LAHORE, October 2. /Dunyo IA/.  During the official visit of the Uzbek delegation to Pakistan, led by Nuriddin Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, a meeting was held in Lahore with Malik Zaheer Iqbal Channer, Deputy Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meeting, participants discussed the consistent development of bilateral cooperation across all sectors between the regions of Uzbekistan and the Punjab province. Particular emphasis was placed on the significance of inter-parliamentary collaboration and the mechanisms to further deepen this partnership.

Malik Channar expressed Punjab province’s keen interest in advancing cooperation with Uzbekistan across trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian, as well as other sectors.

During the conversation, great historical figures such as Imam al-Bukhari, Imam al-Tirmidhi, and Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, along with shared cultural values, were recognized as significant ties that bind our peoples together.

He also provided information on over 80 initiatives being implemented by the provincial administration under the leadership of Maryam Nawaz, aimed at improving living conditions and strengthening social welfare in the region.

Uzbekistan delegation was also briefed on the structure and functioning of the Punjab Assembly, including the operation of permanent committees within the local parliament tasked with engaging the public and addressing their concerns.

During the discussions, particular attention was given to cooperation on regional security and sustainable development. It was emphasized that both countries share a common commitment to ensuring peace and security. Pakistan expressed its interest in deepening collaboration with Uzbekistan in this important area.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Pakistani counterparts expressed their gratitude to the Uzbek parliamentary delegation for the visit and expressed confidence that this trip will elevate the brotherly and cooperative relations between the two countries to a new level.
