Tourism and economic potential of Samarkand presented at Business Forum in Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR, April 7. /Dunyo IA/. A business forum dedicated to the trade, economic, and tourism potential of Samarkand was held in the capital of Malaysia, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
As part of the visit of the Samarkand regional delegation, led by Khokim Adiz Boboyev, to Malaysia, a business forum dedicated to the trade, economic and tourism potential of the country was organized with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur.
This event was held on the eve of “MATTA Fair”, one of Malaysia’s largest tourism exhibitions, which took place on April 3-5 of this year in Kuala Lumpur. The forum aimed to provide Malaysian tour operators with a more detailed introduction to Uzbekistan’s tourism potential.
The forum featured participation from representatives of the Uzbekistan–Malaysia Business Alliance, Malaysia Consortium of Mid-Tier Companies (MCMTC), the “SMITA Global Malaysia” association, the “Tourism Malaysia” agency and the travel associations “BUMITRA” “PAPUH” and “MATTA” along with executives from major local corporations and leading entrepreneurs from the Samarkand region.
The opening ceremony was addressed by Khokim of the Samarkand region Adiz Boboyev; Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Karomidin Gadoev and Deputy CEO of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) Jai Shankar.
In his address, Adiz Boboyev detailed the conditions established in Uzbekistan for Malaysian entrepreneurs, as well as the wide range of opportunities available to tourists.
Jai Shankar noted that Uzbekistan is one of the most dynamically developing economies in Central Asia. He emphasized the attractiveness of the trade, economic, investment, and tourism potential of the Samarkand region for Malaysian companies. He expressed confidence that Samarkand provides a favorable investment environment and incentives not only for the development of tourism and trade but also for hotel construction and management, as well as the establishment of joint manufacturing ventures.
As part of the forum, the Samarkand regional delegation reached agreements to expand cooperation with several leading organizations and companies, including the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) of Malaysia, the travel associations “BUMITRA” ,“PAPUH” and “MATTA” as well as airlines such as “Malaysia Airlines”, “AirAsia” and “Batik Air”. Furthermore, partnerships were established with companies including “Orion Consortium”, “Orientex Synergy”, “CB Synergy”, “Spora Global” and “Almas Global Dried Fruit”.
The forum concluded with B2B meetings between companies and tour operators from both countries. To showcase Uzbekistan’s gastronomic tourism potential, national dishes were presented, including Samarkand plov, which was prepared and served to the participants.
