“Orta Lectura”: Growth in demand and employment boosts Uzbekistan's business climate

MADRID, February 21. /Dunyo IA/. Following the results of 2025, a consistently positive business climate is maintained in Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing a publication by the Spanish analytical and news portal “Orta Lectura”.
It is noted that the average annual value of the composite Business Climate Index reached 57 points on a scale from -100 to +100, which is 7% higher than the level recorded in 2024. This growth was primarily driven by improved assessments of current business conditions: the corresponding index increased by 22%, reaching 47 points. Meanwhile, the Expectations Index saw a slight decrease - from 68 to 66 points - though it remains at a consistently high level.
Report states that the peak value of the index was recorded in June (63 points), while the minimum was in January (52 points). In December, the indicator stood at 58 points, which is 2 points higher than the level at the end of 2024. Positive dynamics were noted in most sectors. In the services sector, the index reached 58 points (+14.7%), in construction - 57 points (+14.2%), and in industry - 54 points (+6.8%). In agriculture, the indicator remained stable at 56 points.
At the regional level, growth was recorded in 11 regions of the country. The most notable improvements were observed in the Kashkadarya, Jizzakh and Khorezm regions, as well as the Republic of Karakalpakstan. In the Samarkand region, the index stood at 51 points, while in the Tashkent region, it reached 44 points.
Business expectations remain moderately positive: 66% of entrepreneurs forecast growth in demand and 57% plan to expand their workforce. The Employment Index rose by 12% to 43 points, while the Demand Index increased by 13% to 48 points.
Furthermore, 60% of entrepreneurs stated they faced no difficulties in conducting business - a 6% increase compared to the previous year. Complaints regarding financing, power supply and tax burdens have decreased. Overall, the study points to a strengthening of business activity and a gradual reduction in barriers for entrepreneurship.
