TASHKENT, May 21. /"Dunyo" IA/. Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Turkiye, Alisher Agzamkhodjaev, has been elected Chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investment and Tourism, "Dunyo" IA's correspondent reports.
The 67-year-old Senator from the Syrdarya region served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Turkiye from 2017 to 2025, and concurrently to Bulgaria from 2018.
After graduating from the Faculty of Law of Tashkent State University (now the National University of Uzbekistan) in 1980, he worked as a lawyer at the "Tashkentmebel" production association and held responsible positions in public and government structures. From 1990 to 1995, he was a People’s Deputy and Chairman of the Committee on Youth Affairs of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) of Uzbekistan. Later, he worked within the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including in embassies abroad, and headed production enterprises.
He is fluent in Russian, English, and Turkish.
