Ambassador of Uzbekistan presents credentials to the President of Bangladesh

DHAKA, November 27. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, (with residence in New Delhi), Sardor Rustambaev presented his letters of credence to President of this country, Mohammed Shahabuddin, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Following the official credentials ceremony, the two sides held a substantive discussion on the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Bangladesh. The talks covered a wide spectrum of areas, including political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, investment partnerships, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges, underscoring the shared interest in expanding collaboration across multiple sectors.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin described Uzbekistan as a key regional partner and a reliable friend of Bangladesh in Central Asia. He underscored that, owing to the dynamic nationwide reforms and consistent initiatives carried out in recent years under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan’s international standing and global reputation have continued to grow.
It was noted that the government of Bangladesh attaches particular importance to the development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The discussions highlighted the significant potential for partnership in sectors such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, and leather industries. Bangladesh expressed its readiness to share expertise and jointly implement new projects in these areas.
Special attention was also given to strengthening cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian spheres, particularly in tourism and higher education.
Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Bangladesh were established on 15 October 1992.
It is recalled that new Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Sardor Rustambaev, arrived in New Delhi in January 2024. Prior to this appointment, he headed Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions in France and Portugal.
