ASHGABAT, February 25. /Dunyo IA/.  Ravshanbek Alimov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan, met with Nazar Agakhanov, Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The parties discussed pressing issues concerning the further development of trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. During the talks, joint activities planned for the current year in this sector were reviewed.

Special attention was given to the work of the Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation, which plays a key role in strengthening bilateral ties.

It was noted that the free trade regime, implemented between the two countries on February 25, 2025, continues to support the further expansion of mutual trade volumes.

The launch of the “Shavat - Dashoguz” border trade zone during the state visit of Serdar Berdimuhamedow to Uzbekistan in November of last year marked an important new step in strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between the neighbouring regions of the two countries.

The parties also exchanged views on the development of industrial cooperation between enterprises from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
